FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

What is the Reaching Higher Campaign? This is a capital fund raising program to raise money for a new building.

What new building? A new Christian Life Center is being built to add larger meeting rooms and additional school classrooms.

Who decided to do this? Members of Red Hill Lutheran Church and School have been planning for the last ten years to expand the Tustin campus.

Why is it needed? Experience and studies have shown that the old Fellowship Hall was too small to meet the needs of the congregation, and the school had limited space to expand its ministry. Space is also needed to better serve the community. The design meets the needs of the church, school and community..

What is being planned? The Christian Life Center is to have three floors totaling about 24,000 square feet. The bottom floor will be below ground and contain classrooms and a large multi-purpose room. The middle floor will be a large meeting hall with a modern kitchen. The upper floor will contain classrooms. An elevator will serve all floors. All floors will have modern restrooms.

Where will it be located? It will be placed where the old Fellowship Hall was located, between the church and the school classrooms.

Why is it being located there? Tustin requires adequate parking for both the school and the church. Location of the new building anywhere else would limit parking and not be approved by the City.

When will it be constructed? The existing Fellowship Hall came down in early July, 2008. Construction begin immediately thereafter. Construction is expected to be completed in August of 2009.

What will it cost? The most recent construction cost estimate was $6,800,000. This inlcudes the building cost as well as several other projects required to build the building.

How will that be financed? The congregation has committed approximately $2,500,000. An additional $500,000 is expected from new commitments. The remainder will be funded by loans and grants.

What can I do to help? You can join the more than 200 individuals and families that have made three-year financial commitments to help pay for this project. Many have pledged three times their annual giving to fund this project. More importantly, you can diligently pray for the proper use of these commitments for the Lord's work. Yes, you can make a difference! If you would like to learn more about how you can contribute, please contact Gary Fortner at stewardship@redhillelca.org.
